About the Event
Join us for the third of our Making Noise Workshops! We are really excited to launch our brand new MIXED AERIAL WORKSHOP. You will learn techniques and have freedom to play on VERTICAL DANCE (Wall Running), SLING AND FIXED LINE practices!
What is Vertical dance/wall running?
“Vertical dance is an exciting, emerging form of dance that typically uses rock climbing equipment (ropes, harnesses and abseil devices) to suspend dancers off the ground on a range of vertical surfaces.” - Vertical Dance Kate Lawrence
What is sling?
“Aerial Sling (hammock, loop) belongs to the family of Circus and Aerial acrobatics. It is a long piece of fabric, hanging from the ceiling, forming a swing. What is distinctive of this fabric is, its length of approx. 2 meters, which allows the acrobat to get his whole body into it, as if it was a huge hammock and perform a number of poses and drops.” - Vertical Wise
What is fixed line?
A harness and rope based technique which allows for a gravity defying, 360 degree movement exploration. A rope is rigged in a fixed position from the ceiling, the performer attaches to this rope via a rig/knot to their harness. A version of vertical dance but without the wall!
